"RM-2000 Series"
Two-Stage, Highly Regulated Chargers; 12 and 24 volts, 5-33 amps

RM Series

The RM-2000 Series battery charger line has now been broadly expanded to cover the full spectrum of marine, mobile and fixed site battery systems - from small recreational craft to luxury yachts - from auxiliary batteries on fleet vehicles to site back-up batteries for emergency communications.

This new charger line represents a leap ahead of older SCR and ferro-resonant circuitry, using new two-stage* switching technology, which combines much faster charging of low batteries with the ability to maintain peak battery voltage while simultaneously supplying high current demands of the DC load.

The RM-2000 Series charger uses voltage and current sensing circuitry to provide "bulk" current which quickly drives batteries to optimum voltage, then maintains them through a "constant voltage" phase. During this phase, batteries remain at fully charged peak voltage even if DC system loads are applied with high current demand (up to the charger's constant voltage rating). Precise output regulation minimizes electrolyte loss of flooded or sealed lead-acid, gel-cell and AGM batteries.

Unlike SCR chargers, the RM-2000's current limiting circuitry prevents blown fuses when dead batteries or extreme loads are encountered, and components will not overheat and cause thermal cut-out when operated continuously at rated output. And unlike ferro-resonant chargers, there is no voltage "droop" under load, nor long charge intervals required for the final saturation of battery plates to reach peak voltage.

All models feature rugged stainless steel housing with built-in drip shield, multiple output banks, front panel ammeter to monitor total output current, and meet numerous safety and EMC requirements

Features

  • Excellent output regulation provides rapid recharge and maintains batteries at peak voltage, even with a system load.
  • Two phase charging: "Bulk" phase for rapid recovery with high current output to batteries; "Constant Voltage" for regulated maintenance of ideal battery voltage with current delivery upon demand (see output graphs, below).
  • Multiple isolated output banks charge independently based on demand. Current flows to bank requiring charge without overcharging other banks.
  • Can be used as a power supply without battery in-line. Allows use of DC equipment if batteries are taken off-line for any reason.
  • Current limiting prevents damage from extreme overload, dead batteries or short-circuited output (manual reset on models 2010, 2020 & 2405).
  • Front panel ammeter enables easy monitoring of total DC output.
  • Thermally controlled cooling fan on 15 amp and larger models extends life of components. Automatic thermal shutdown/recovery prevent damage from overheating in high temp environments.
  • Rugged stainless steel construction, with conformal coated internal components for maximum resistance to corrosion.
  • Numerous safety and performance certifications
